Share My Story Hey Baby Clothing owner Natalie

Hey Baby’s Story

We had the great opportunity to meet with Natalie, owner and designer from Hey Baby! Hey Baby! is a local children’s clothing company offering soft, comfortable, grow-with-me clothing that is also incredibly stylish.

Hey Baby! was founded in 2016 after Natalie was struggling to find long-lasting stylish clothing for her little baby boy.

For the first couple of years Natalie sewed all of her pieces by hand, until it got to the point where she realized she couldn’t grow her business anymore. All of her time was spent sewing, so she decided to partner with a small factory in Vancouver.

“When my little guy was a newborn, I bought some locally-made leggings for him. Unfortunately, he was only able to wear them twice before he outgrew them.”

Grow-with-me clothing

One of Hey Baby!’s staple pieces are their grow-with-me clothing.

The leggings come with an extra long foldable waistband and ankle cuffs. These leggings can be worn on a smaller child with the bands fully folded, and as the child grows the bands can be unfolded for additional length.

Natalie also designs grow-with-me dresses for little ones. They can be worn as a dress on a smaller child and transforms into a beautiful fitted tunic top as the child grows.
They are both designed and ethically made in Canada and are made from a super soft, lightweight bamboo blend in order to not only last for a long time but also be incredibly comfy. (66% Rayon from Bamboo, 28% Cotton, 6% Spandex)

New designs for fall

Apart from the grow-with-me clothing line Hey Baby! also offers trucker hats, overalls, t-shirts, birthday tees, and tunics for moms.

And they have more designs coming this fall! Get ready for cozy campfire nights and fall colours. Natalie told me that the theme she is using for her fall clothing line, comes from something close to her heart.
It will be called ‘Cozy Cabin’ and is based on her family cabin on Mesachie Lake here on Vancouver Island. It is a really special place to her not only because she adored spending time there with her grandparents growing up, but also because she got married there and is now able to share all these wonderful moments with her little one George, whom she named after her Grandfather.

Trucker Hats for babies and toddlers

During our interview Natalie told me that their trucker hats are made specifically for babies and toddlers. She said that “You can find a kid size trucker hat at pretty much every store, but one that is a baby or toddler size and actually fits them well is rare.

A ton of moms tell me their kids won’t wear any other hats. Especially kids who don’t usually like wearing hats love wearing ours because they are so comfortable, fit properly and have cool designs on them.”

If we’ve got you swooning over all of these incredible clothing items, make sure to visit Hey Baby! and check their stockists list to see in which stores you can find them. You can also find them at these upcoming markets.
Refresh Market September 13-14, Etsy Made in Canada September 29-29, Stagnhare November 23-24, Local Love Pop-Up November 24 and Hillside Holiday Artisan Market November 30 – December 1.
