Women In Need’s Story
We had the opportunity to talk with some employees at the WIN store here in Victoria and are proud to share a little bit about their story with you.
WIN launched in April 1991 and has been a community service cooperative for 10 years now.
Their main goal is to support women along their journey between crisis, financial self-sufficiency and wellness.

They do this in many different ways. They have a Crisis Referral Program, a Self Sufficiency Program, a Transformation Program, a New Start Program and even a Gift Certificate Program.
So, you can see they are not your average Thrift store by any means.
When you shop at WIN you are helping create revenue for their programs. By donating items that they can sell in their stores and use in their programs and by shopping or volunteering your time, you are giving women a chance at a better life!
Now let’s take a closer look at what WIN has been able to do thanks to your support and their dedicated team. In their Gift Certificate Program, they work with more than 15 local organizations to provide women in their programs with gift certificates that they can then use in their stores.
In the last six months alone, they have provided $18.014 in gift certificates.
The Self Sufficiency Program supports women to take the next step along their unique journey to financial independence (whether it be through removal of barriers, through educational pursuits, or to start a small business) This year they have given 64 women bursaries amounting to $35,479.
And on top of all the amazing programs and help they offer, they are a social enterprise and are 100% funded through their operations. (If this was a speech, I would ask for a huge round of applause)
