Sailor Jack Consignment’s Story

Meet Marnie, owner of Sailor Jack Consignment, a Consignment store providing families in Victoria BC with new and pre-loved clothing and gear for babies, kids, moms and moms-to-be.

About 3 years ago, Marnie took over this incredible Consignment store that has been a proud member of the Vic West community for the last 15 years.
Sailor Jack has a wide variety of high quality new and pre-loved clothing and gear for babies, kids, moms and moms-to-be. You will be able to find the most adorable summer clothe and shoes as well as books, toys and accessories. Having had the pleasure to peruse the store, filled with adorable clothing and all things a mom to be or young family could need, I can’t wait to return once we have a little Munchkin on the way. ?

And while buying pre-loved clothes and toys is always an amazing way to go, Sailor Jack also offers new items and features some products from locally owned businesses. As of right now, they are supporting, Wychbury Ave (handmade natural soaps), Eco soles (handmade wool slippers), Burnt Curve Jewellry (laser cut earrings), Hart and Arrow (teething jewelry), Mia’s Mocs (handmade leather baby moccasins), Sunday love (Handmade bibs), Pocket Rags (Handmade Pocket Rags made from Organic Cotton Flannel zero waste friendly hankies made of 100% Cotton made by 11yr old kid, Jori!) as well as Handmade Peruvian Sweaters for kids just to name a few ?.

It’s an incredible cycle of benefits. They can help the consignors, families, the charities they support, and they keep all the items out of the landfill. It’s a win-win all around!

Throughout the interview with Marnie, we learned, that one of the most rewarding job perks for her, is donating to the local charity organizations. They currently support The Cridge Young Parent Outreach Program, The Cridge Transition House, 1UP Single Parent Resource Centre, Victoria Pregnancy Centre and Compassionate Resource Warehouse and kids in need at schools in our community.
Sailor Jack’s is also helping out families in emergency situations. (remember the fire at the Blanchard Courts …? They were able to help out 6 families in the process)
Sailor Jack also attends local fairs where they showcase their local consigners and spread awareness for the charities they support.

The next fair Sailor Jack will be attending will be the Wind and Willow fair coming up on May 5th at the Juan de Fuca rec centre. They will also be at car-free yyj and just as a little insider tip; you definitely want to stop by their booth with your kids! Marnie might bring some of her chicklets :D
Lastly, I would love to mention the appreciation Marnie has for everyone who supports Sailor Jack and the charities that are involved. She loves helping wherever she can and said that meeting all the amazing parents/to be and watch their kids grow up is incredibly rewarding.

Make sure you check out Sailor Jack next time you are in the Vic West area or visit them online or at one of their upcoming fairs.
